Peles Castle Former residence of the Romanian Royal Family

One of Europe’s most beautiful castles, Peles was built between 1875 and 1914 by King Carol I of Romania. It is an example of Neo-Renaissance German architecture surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains. Its 160 rooms, which were the Royal Family’s summer residence until 1947, are enriched with Murano glass chandeliers, precious frescoes, sculptures and bas-reliefs, handwritten and leather-bound books, German armour together with many luxurious furnishings.
